Lacquer Box S black

A small black lacquer box from Chulo's Dragonfly collection, built as a crisp square with a flat lid and a fine seam that runs like a drawn line around the sides. Its quiet drama comes from the dragonfly perched across the front: hand-cut buffalo horn wings in smoky olive and pearl grey, veined and faintly translucent, spreading over the mirror-dark surface.

The body is MDF wood finished with 13 to 15 layers of lacquer, patiently built up until the black reads as deep as ink and reflects the room around it. Open the lid and the mood shifts — the inside is a soft cashmere tone, warm against the glossy exterior. This lacquered box suits a bedside table for rings and cufflinks, a dressing table, or a console in an entrance hall, and its high shine sits beautifully with dark woods, brass and stone in art deco, contemporary or Asian-inspired interiors.
