Vase Rhizom 11s vase / GERMAN DESIGN AWARD WINNER 2024

The RHIZOM 11s by Klatt Objects is a handmade bone china vase whose low, boat-like body rises into eleven slender openings, each finished with a small round mouth. Seen in profile, the white multi-stem vase reads almost like a coral or a cluster of shoots — soft matte surfaces, fluid ridges running down to a gently rounded base, and shadows that pool between the stems.

Made from premium bone china porcelain, the piece has the quiet luminosity that only fine porcelain gives: light grazes the ridges and turns them pale ivory, while the hollows fall into soft grey. Designed by Detlef Klatt and awarded the German Design Award 2024, its form takes cues from the growth patterns of bamboo, lotus and lily of the valley — each opening holding a single stem so that even fine grasses and delicate blooms stand securely. Use it as a low centrepiece on a dining table where sightlines matter, on a console in an entryway, or empty as a sculptural object on a sideboard in a minimalist or wabi-sabi interior.
