Striped coconut vase #27

The Striped Coconut Vase #27 is a handmade wheat straw vase from Zahati, built up coil by coil in the brand's workshop in Gata de Gorgos. Its silhouette is unmistakable: a wide, dome-like upper body that tapers into a slim waist before flaring again into a conical foot, finished with a flat, open rim. Every coil is banded in graphic black and cream, so the stripes ripple around the curves and follow the shape like contour lines.

Moulded with precision using the pottery technique, the vase is worked entirely in 100% wheat straw, whose matte fibre catches side light with a soft, hairy texture and keeps the black-and-white contrast warm rather than stark. Because each piece is shaped by hand, no two are exactly alike. At 65 cm it reads as a floor vase or a bold console and sideboard piece: place it beside a sofa in a living room, in a hallway corner, or in a pair flanking a doorway. It suits Mediterranean, boho and natural-fibre interiors, and works as sculpture on its own or filled with dried grasses and branches.
